Appalachian Studies at Miami Hamilton

Miami Hamilton is in the process of developing an academic program for Studies of Appalachia.

At the core of this program is a curriculum dedicated to understanding and sharing the history, culture and continuing influence
of Appalachian immigration in our communities and our region. New educational opportunities and programs will enhance the appreciation of Appalachian heritage.

These include the following:

• An interdisciplinary major, minor and thematic sequence,
• Internships
• Service learning projects that respond to community needs.

Other opportunities include faculty and student exchange programs with educational institutions in Appalachia.
