What is the difference between criminology and criminal justice?
Criminal Justice is the study of the police, courts, and corrections. Individuals with a criminal justice degree are primarily interested in working in law enforcement and corrections but are able to work in other fields as well. Criminology is the study of society and offenders’ behavior. Individuals interested in criminology are generally interested in profiling, probation, and parole.

Are there any pre-requisites for this degree?
Students do not have to meet any pre-requisites specific to criminal justice to declare it as their major. Students will only have to meet the guidelines necessary to declare a major within the University.

Do the courses have to be taken in order?
The courses listed within the program do not have to be taken in a specific order. The only courses that will have a specified pre-requisite are CJS 220 (Field Experience) and CJS 282 (Seminar in Criminal Justice). These two courses should be taken after the student has completed the majority of there required CJS courses.
