As the foster care liaisons for Miami University
Regionals we are advocates for all students who were
formerly in foster care.
We realize that foster care alumni students face unique challenges when they transition out of care and into the college environment. Applying to college and adjusting to college life can seem confusing and overwhelming.
We are here to help explain the terminology as well as the steps involved with coming to college. We will help you navigate through financial aid resources and other campus offices and community resources available to help you succeed.
Earning a college degree offers you a chance for a better life, one with a higher income, more stability and greater opportunities. You deserve this kind of life, and with hard work and determination this could be a reality for you.
We strongly encourage you to self-identify as a foster care alumni when you meet with your academic advisor. By doing so we can have a broader conversation regarding available resources, including increased financial aid opportunities.
In the meantime, take a few minutes to watch the You Tube video below and discover how Foster Care Liaisons can help fostercare alums learn what they need to know about going to college.
