Frequently Asked Questions About the SaturdaySelect Program
Who can enroll for SaturdaySelect courses?
SaturdaySelect is designed for mature learners. Anyone who's interested in the program should talk to an advisor first to ensure that the hybrid format—in-class and online components—is an appropriate format for them. Students must maintain a C average to stay in the program.
Do I need to have access to a computer to take SaturdaySelect courses?
Yes. Most SaturdaySelect courses will have an online component.
SaturdaySelect will work best for people who have access to the Internet either at home or via a public facility such as the library. Miami Hamilton and Middletown's computer labs are also available to SaturdaySelect students and are open many hours per week.
Do classes only meet on Saturdays?
Most of the meetings are on Saturdays but there will be one meeting prior to the first Saturday of each eight week course (Usually the preceding Sunday, or a Friday evening.) The Sunday pre-class meeting will be from 12-2 pm for those taking a Saturday morning class and 2:15-4:15 for those taking a Saturday afternoon class.
Are the SaturdaySelect courses ever offered in the weekday evenings?
Yes. Sometimes the hybrid-style SaturdaySelect courses are offered on weeknights. Check course schedules for details.
Am I eligible for any financial aid if I enroll for SaturdaySelect classes?
Yes. Contact Miami Hamilton's Student Financial Aid and Scholarship office or Miami Middletown's Office of Financial Aid for details.
How many weeks does it take to complete a SaturdaySelect course?
Each SaturdaySelect course lasts eight (8) weeks. (Remember that the class will meet nine times, in all.) You may take as many as four (4) courses on Saturdays per regular semester (16 weeks).
Is it possible for me to complete any other associate degree in two calendar years using only the SaturdaySelect program?
No, not at this time.
I understand that I must see an advisor before I can register for classes. Why is this important?
An advisor will go over your Degree Audit Report (DAR) and help you choose classes that will contribute to your degree. He or she will also ensure that you realize that SaturdaySelect classes often require more self-direction and self-discipline than a typical face-to-face classroom experience.
How do I contact an advisor?
