FINANCIAL AID AND SCHOLARSHIPS

A college education is an important investment that offers lifetime returns, and there are a number of resources available to assist undergraduate and graduate students in meeting the costs of tuition, fees, books, and living expenses while attending school.

Undergraduate students should visit the Hamilton or Middletown web pages for more detailed information, and to learn about special scholarship opportunities available for Regional Campus students.

Information for graduate students is available online, and veterans can learn more about opportunities at Miami, or by visiting the national GI Bill of Rights web page.

FAFSA – The First Step

FAFSA logo: start here go further. The key first step is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which can be completed online, or printed out and mailed in. The FAFSA form is used to determine the cost of attendance (COA), the expected family contribution (EFC), and ultimately to determine a student’s financial need.  Some scholarships at Miami and elsewhere require that students complete a FAFSA as part of the application and eligibility process.

Scholarships

Scholarships are available at Miami and through external agencies, organizations, community groups, professional associations, and other resources.  Scholarships may be awarded based on academic achievement, community involvement, financial need, or a combination of factors.

Miami has many scholarships available for students on the Middletown, Hamilton and Oxford campuses available for first time, continuing, and returning former students.

Additional Resources

Students have a number of online research tools to learn more about financial aid and scholarships.

The University System of Ohio has a web page with information and links to financial aid information, including the Ohio GI Promise and Choose Ohio First scholarship programs.

Fastweb.com is an online resource to which many students turn for information about financial aid opportunities, and includes a scholarship search engine. FinAid.org is another online resource for exploring opportunities.
